BLE Basics is a diagnostic development and troubleshooting tool for those developing Bluetooth Low Energy 4.0/4.1 devices using the GAP/GATT Services and Characteristics.
Most notably, it supports some of the more recent characteristic descriptor formats such as the Characterstics Presentation Format Descriptor describing data type, exponent and units.
BLE Basics scans for Bluetooth BLE peripherals listing any found in the area.
Select a peripheral and BLE Basics will display all SERVICES offered by the peripheral.
Select a SERVICE and BLE Basics will display all CHARACTERISTICS offered under that service.
You may read/write to characteristics and subscribe to characteristics of property NOTIFY or INDICATE. Subscribed characteristics will automatically update each time the peripheral changes the data and BLE Basics provides a timestamp of when it was received.
Writes can be done with either decimal or hexadecimal entries. These are sent to peripherals to control various functions of their operation.
BLE Basics makes it easy to make changes to firmware on BLE Basic Internet of THings iOT devices and quickly and easily observe what those changes look like at the other end - the receiving iPhone or iPad "central" device.
BLE Basics is also useful for "exploring" for other BLE devices and examining their services and characteristics, and allowing you to interact with them.
